چکیده :
محمد عبدالحلیم، استاد مطالعات قرآنی دانشگاه لندن و سردبیر مجلهی مطالعات قرآنی مؤسسهی مطالعات اسلامی انگلستان است.
همچنین مدیریت مرکز مطالعات اسلامی دانشکده مطالعات شرقی و آفریقایی دانشگاه لندن را بر عهده دارد.
محمدعبدالحلیم در مصر متولد شد و از کودکی قرآن را آموخت وحافظ قرآن شد.
او در دانشگاه های الازهر، قاهره و کمبریج تحصیلات تکمیلی را گذرانده است.
از سال ۱۹۶۶ به تدریس معارف عربی و اسلامی در دانشگاه های کمبریج و لندن مشغول شد و دوره های ترجمه پیشرفته قرآن را برگزار کرد.
در سال ۲۰۰۴، انتشارات دانشگاه آکسفورد ترجمه قرآن به انگلیسی را از عبدالحلیم منتشر کرد که با استقبال زیادی مواجه شد و چندین بار تجدید چاپ شد.
عبدالحلیم به پاس خدمات فرهنگی و مطالعات علمی در ادبیات عرب و نیز تلاش برای تفاهم ادیان، نشان امپراتوری بریتانیا را از ملکه الیزابت دریافت کرده است.
با این حال عبدالحلیم خود را یک مسلمان معتقد و پایبند به دستورات نبوی میداند.
